For almost one year the 'Thurles Young Filmmakres' worked on a short film entitled 'Silent Keys'. There are many different messages hidden within this film and they can be interpreted in different ways. However, the most important message to be taken from 'Silent Keys' is that we all should seek out help from our closest friends and our family in times of crisis. Alcohol abuse should never be used as an escape from life's difficulties. The film was made in association with the Tipperary Regional Youth Service and the Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force.
'Silent Keys,' is a story about a young woman who loses her way. Em, the central character, is as unique as any other person. She loves her friends and her family and she enjoys playing the piano. Factors in Em's life lead her towards alcohol. As she struggles in certain aspects of life, she begins to see alcohol as a solace, her only comfort in her increasing distress. As Em's dependence on alcohol grows stronger loneliness and desperation prevail. Before long a dangerous situation ensues.
